The IBM ITSM Bulletin from Orb Data
One of the recent trends in the ITSM service desk market has been to move what have been on-premise service desks to the cloud. In particular Service Now has been particularly popular in this marketplace. However, the same companies have stuck resolutely with on-premise event management products. If you can look at incidents in a cloud based service desk then why not events in a cloud event management tool?
This article takes a look at the reasons and a possible solution here.
It’s the end of the road for Netcool OMNIbus 7.4
IBM recently made an announcement stating the end of support for many of the earlier versions of its Netcool software suite. The end-of-support date is the 31st December 2018 and includes Netcool/OMNIbus v7.4, Netcool Impact v6.1.x, ITNM v3.9/v4.1.0/v4.1.1 and Netcool Operations Insights v1.2.x/1.3.x.
This article discusses what this means and how Orb Data can help you navigate this process.

IBM Software License Whitepaper Download
IBM currently uses over 10 metrics to license its software. This alone might make keeping track of your licenses difficult enough but with the advent of Virtualisation this can make your licensing a full-time job.
However, the ability to keep a track of your IBM licenses is becoming increasingly important as IBM reserves the right to run a compulsory software audit every few years. On IBM’s own figures 60% of companies have faced audits in the last 2 years and generally IBM aims to complete a software License Review (Audit) every 2 to 3 years for each account. Even if you think you are managing your entitlements well IBM report that only 4.5% of their customers have achieved optimised software application management.
To help you become 1 of the 4.5% Orb Data has written a comprehensive whitepaper detailing all the license types along with worked examples of how they work. To get your copy please click here or visit the Orb Data website under the Home menu.
