Orb Data launches Managed Service offering

Orb Data aims to achieve 50% ROI for companies using its new Managed Services offerings.

 

BURNHAM, UK – 24 May, 2010 – Orb Data Limited, an 'AAA' rated IBM partner and specialist in supporting business automation, security and data compliance solutions, today announced that it will be showcasing its new Managed Service offerings at IBM’s Pulse Comes To You event (PCTY2010), which takes place on the 27^th May at The Grange Hotel, London. This comes on the back of IBM’s Pulse event in Las Vegas, at which Orb Data’s Self-Service Portal was voted Best in Show Finalist.

 

IBM Tivoli software provides an extremely powerful toolset, and when managed correctly, it significantly improves and maintains business services. However, as with any piece of software, the product itself needs maintenance and improvement to fully realise the Return On Investment (ROI) for which the software was originally bought.

 

Correct management, however, costs both in terms of time and money. As with any piece of software it needs focus to maintain its impetus, but all too often for varying reasons this does not happen. Sometimes the personnel chosen as the company’s Tivoli experts have other jobs to focus on, or trained employees may leave their role or the company. Otherwise, changes to systems and applications can mean that Tivoli is no longer configured correctly or lack of attention causes events to be missed, or too many events are generated; all too often, the business loses faith in the product and forgets the initial reason for the purchase.

 

Orb Data’s Managed Service, based on IBM Tivoli technology, can change this. Orb Data take on the day to day running of the Tivoli components, leaving businesses to manage their servers and applications. More importantly, using its skilled technicians, Orb Data will aim to achieve a 50% Return on Investment year on year.

 

The Managed Services offering provides organizations with an overview of its Tivoli components, including event and incident management, technical support, detailed reporting, and change and problem management information. As there is no need for training, and there are no overheads in terms of implementation, costs are reduced over all.

 

Orb Data provides customers with the flexibility to choose how much or how little responsibility they wish Orb Data to take over their Tivoli implementation. Customers can select from three options; the Cloud Option hands over the ownership and management of the Tivoli Servers and software to Orb Data, with the servers located at an Orb Data site. Alternatively, with the Remote option, customers can purchase the software, and the hardware is kept at their own datacentre. Finally, Orb Data offers an Internal Option, which locates Orb Data experts at the customer’s site.

 

Orb Data’s Self-Service Portal is a key feature of Orb Data’s Managed Services offering, which devolves tasks to subject matter experts, offers version controlled best practices and has a single scalable view for multiple HUB TEMS. With Orb Data’s self-service approach, it is possible to gain a clear advantage through the redistribution of roles between the ESM team, their customers and subject matter experts.
