This tutorial looks at how you can use Odyssey to schedule ITM 6 Situations. You may wish to monitor a particular group of servers at certain times of the day.
There is no built-in method for scheduling situations in ITM 6. One common solution is to embed scheduling criteria within a situation formula definition. At best this approach is difficult to audit and manage. Furthermore, if you require separate schedules for different groups of servers or have or have ad-hoc schedule requirements then it quickly becomes unworkable.
Odyssey offers a different approach to the problem. Firstly you use Odyssey to define logical groups of servers with similar scheduling requirements. Then you create a schedule for assigning and unassigning these servers to an ITM 6 Managed System List. When a server is assigned to the list the situations will fire, when it is unassigned then the situation will no longer fire.
