Security

Security is one of the top concerns among organisations looking to move their workloads to the cloud. The IBM SmartCloud is designed to offer a safe environment populated with an array of security features. Our security features include:
Virtual infrastructure

  • Physical firewall and IPS/IDS between guest virtual machines (VMs) and the Internet
  • IP–filtering & multiple IP addresses per instance for enabling security zones
  • Optional VPN and VLAN isolation of account instances
  • Encrypted access and connections
  • Hypervisor-based  isolation with customer-configurable firewall rules
  • Public images patched and scanned regularly; patch servers for private images
  • No sharing of private images between accounts on the cloud

Management infrastructure

  • Access to the infrastructure  requires web identity and password
  • Complies with IBM’s stringent security policies, including regular security scans
  • Controlled and audited administrative actions and operations

Delivery centres

  • The IBM SmartCloud is only delivered out of certified IBM data centres
  • Physical security is the same as for IBM internal data centres

Reliability/SLA

IBM provides around-the-clock monitoring and management of the IBM SmartCloud infrastructure. IBM offers a 99.5 percent service level agreement for the availability of the Cloud portal or customer virtual machine instances. In addition, you can enhance the availability of your cloud configurations by leveraging the virtual IP, anti-collocation and virtual LAN capabilities in the IBM SmartCloud.
