MQ Monitoring with OMEGAMON XE for Messaging Agents

The WebSphere MQ Monitoring Agents work in the same way as other Tivoli Monitoring Agents. They are split into three separate agents:

The WebSphere MQ Monitoring Agent

The MQ Monitoring Agent lets you easily collect and analyze MQ-specific data for all queue managers from a single vantage point. It provides many useful workspaces you can use to track trends and understand and troubleshoot system problems.

MQ Monitoring Agent provides these benefits:

  • Increases knowledge with extensive reporting capabilities that provide real-time access to reliable, up-to-the-minute data.
  • Enhances system performance by letting you integrate, monitor, and manage your system, environment, console, and mission-critical applications. For example, MQ Monitoring can alert you when conditions in your environment meet or exceed the thresholds you set. These alerts notify your system administrator to limit and control system traffic.
  • Simplifies application and system management by managing applications, platforms, and resources across your system.

The WebSphere MQ Configuration Agent

The MQ Configuration Agent simplifies the time-consuming and resource-intensive tasks of defining your configuration. You can use IBM Tivoli MQ Configuration to manage your MQ network, including local or remote nodes, from a single point of control. You can see how your MQ queue managers and resources are related by viewing a graphical representation of your entire network. You can base configurations on prototype models so you can implement global updates with the click of a mouse, saving time and resources by performing many difficult development tasks automatically. You can group related MQ resources together in ways that reflect the business-oriented relationships between them and the logical structure of your enterprise.

The WebSphere Message Broker Monitoring Agent

The Message Broker Agent helps ensure the reliability and performance of your broker environment by detecting and correcting broker and message flow problems before they have an impact on availability and service levels. Message Broker Monitoring also reduces the amount of time involved in the deployment of broker applications by helping you debug message flows and providing statistics you can use to tune your environment.

MQ Broker Agent provides these benefits:

  • Monitor the status of your IBM broker product and its components
  • View information and performance statistics for broker topologies at broker, execution group, message flow, node, terminal, and thread level in views
  • Issue broker product commands from the Monitoring interface to directly manage your environment, or use the commands to create automatic responses to events
  • Receive alerts when performance thresholds are exceeded or when message flow events occur
  • Retain data samples in history files and roll them off to a historical database for reporting and analysis
