Configuring IEM (BigFix) 32-bit ODBC DSNs on a 64-bit Windows host.

If want to connect a BigFix Enterprise Console running on a 64-bit Windows operating system to the Bigfix Enterprise Suite Server, you will need to use a 32-bit version of the ODBC Data Source Administrator tool.

The default SQLDataSources function that is called in the 64-bit ODBC Data Source Administrator tool returns only system DSNs for 64-bit drivers.

The 64-bit version of the Windows operating system includes a 32-bit version of the odbcad32.exe which is located in the following directory:

%systemdrive%WindowsSysWoW64odbcad32.exe

From the Start menu launch the Run… command window, enter the following command:

windows-run-command-window

Select OK and the 32-bit version of the ODBC Data Source Administrator tool will be launched.

The BigFix “System DSN” can then be configured, more information on configuring the “System DSN” can be found on the BigFix Support site.
