IBM issued a flash notice regarding ITM TEP client jar file certificates expiring as of April 2016 and requires you to get these jar(s)/zip files from the TEP server and pass it on to IBM support in order to re-sign the certificates. Failing to do so before April 2016, will mean you will not be able to login to the TEP client until they are re-signed.
Technote in question is referenced below:
You will need to send the jar and zip files from your Tivoli Enterprise Portal Server (TEPS) located as follows:
I zipped the entire “classes” directory to avoid missing / hand picking jar/zip files. You can then raise a PMR with IBM referring to the tech note above.
IBM Support will then update these and upload the jar/zip files to their FTP site. This normally follows the format like below:
With the ‘0’s being replaced with your unique PMR number and can be downloaded from any modern browser or FTP client of choice (using ‘anonymous’ as user and your/any e-mail as password)
More details about FTP/SFTP options are listed here:
The files were returned fairly quickly, I had most of our Managed Services customer’s files re-signed within 2 to 3 working days.
Once you have received these files, simply replace the jar(s)/zip files and this needs no TEPS downtime. Make sure you clear the cache from the Java Control Panel, depending on the version the method tends to differ slightly but below are the steps that normally works for me:
1. In the Java Control Panel, under the General tab, click Settings under the Temporary Internet Files section. The Temporary Files Settings dialog box
2.Click Delete Files on the Temporary Files Settings dialog.
The Delete Files and Applications dialog box appears
Make sure you check all three options, including ‘Installed Applications and Applets’. Click ‘OK’ on each dialog and exit.
Once this is complete you can then re-download the TEP webstart application by visiting:
and clicking on ‘IBM Tivoli Enterprise Portal Webstart Client’.
This should now be working as usual and all your users will need to do the above steps.
On a separate note, if you are not already subscribed to get the flash notices they can be set up via the IBM Support Portal:
